Message from the
Beta-Psi Alumni Association President Wally Jackson
Letter to
the Membership:
As we leave
the year 2010 and enter 2011, I took some time over the weekend
to ponder where we have been, where we are at, and where we need
to be.
As I stated
last June at the Annual Goat Roast and Golf Tournament, I hold
the title as the President of the Beta-Psi TKE Alumni
Association, but it is only a title. The true Presidents of the
Alumni Association are you….you dictate to us in what direction
our Alumni Association proceeds – what you expect and what you
want done. It is entrusted upon us, the Alumni Association
Officers, to put your wishes into motion. If we do not
hear from you, how do we know in what direction to go? We
have an idea, but remember – the needs of the many, outweigh the
needs of the few. So, we need you to get involved and let us
know what you think.
To get involved, what does that mean? Many members live hours
away from Jonesboro and therefore,
feel that they do not have a voice in the matters of Beta-Psi
TKE. Many of you feel that if you are not here in Jonesboro everyday to voice your opinion, why
should you get attempt to get involved? The pen is mightier
that the sword, and in this age of the internet, your messages,
e-mails and responses speaks volumes….so why not let your voice
be heard, why let your scroll number and chapter be an
afterthought? Make it a viable product of the campus
again; but most importantly, make it a topic of discussion each
year, when top chapters are determined….why can’t we be in that
conversation….I say to this….why not us?
Several
things here have been put into motion by our Alumni Association
Officers. First, over the next several months we will be
conducting a phone calling campaign to continue our ongoing
effort to stay connected with our fellow Alumni members and
update your contact information, so be expecting a phone call
from one of your Beta-Psi Alumni Officers in the near future.
Second, we
will be meeting with the Chancellor of Arkansas State University
to discuss our plans to re-start the undergraduate chapter on
campus and discuss our long-term plans.
Third, we
are in the process of planning a capital campaign to fund our
future fraternity house on campus. With this campaign, we will
not only need your financial support, but just as importantly,
your involvement in contacting other members, especially those
fraters that you pledged with.
Finally, we
will be meeting with members of the TKE National staff in
Jonesboro in the near future to map out the re-start of the
undergraduate chapter and prepare to once again participate in
fraternity rush, here on the campus of Arkansas State
University.
Great things have been happening here….and great things will be
happening here….now is the time to help your fellow fraternity
brothers out and get involved. Your help and support here in Jonesboro, will be greatly appreciated!
YITB,
Wally Jackson # 893
